Position Title: Finance Assistant
Our client, a leading organisation in the finance sector, is currently seeking a Finance Assistant to join their team. This is a temporary-to-permanent position based in (location) with a competitive hourly rate of £13.00.
As a Finance Assistant, you will be responsible for supporting the input of financial transactions into the organisation's financial systems, maintaining accurate accounting records, and performing necessary controls and reconciliations. Your role will also involve assisting in the preparation of monthly reports for internal and external stakeholders, executing periodic accounting processes, and providing support during year-end audits and related administrative functions.
Key Responsibilities:
Ensuring accurate and timely processing of financial transactions, including customer invoicing, journal processing, and supplier invoices.
Performing bank reconciliations and entering customer receipts and supplier payments.
Reviewing and reconciling debtor and creditor accounts, including prepayments and accruals.
Conducting various accounting reconciliations, including group intercompany accounts.
Performing credit control activities to ensure timely payments from customers.
Supporting the production of monthly cost reports, profit forecasting reports, and cashflow reports.
Completing monthly tasks checklists and identifying and escalating reporting discrepancies or control issues.
Assisting with the preparation of year-end audit files and collating supporting documentation.
Supporting other team members in administrative tasks and maintaining electronic filing systems.
Assisting with facility queries and providing cover for holidays in other finance roles.Key Requirements:
1-2 years of experience in a finance or accounting role.
Basic understanding of financial principles and practises.
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel (basic functions, data entry) and Outlook.
Knowledge of Sage X3 or similar accountancy system is desirable.
Excellent planning and organisational skills.
Ability to demonstrate initiative and flexibility.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work well within a team.
Problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
Continuous improvement mindset and willingness to learn and develop.The successful candidate will be measured on the accuracy of financial reports, meeting deadlines for financial tasks, compliance with regulations and company policies, efficiency in financial processes, effective communication with stakeholders, problem-solving abilities, proficiency in financial software, collaboration with colleagues, and engagement in continuous improvement.
