Civil Engineering Officer - Local Authority

Contract Duration: 3+ months
Working Hours: Mon - Fri, 37 hours per week
Pay Rate: £19.35 per hour PAYE
About the Role:
We are seeking a detail-oriented and dedicated Civil Engineering Officer to support the Parks and Leisure department within a Local Authority based in Belfast. In this role, you will work alongside the Senior Civil Engineering Officer to assist in civil engineering project planning, execution, and management. You will liaise with internal and external stakeholders to ensure project completion to quality, time, and budget standards, contributing to our department's Land and Capital Programme goals.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist with civil engineering project planning and budgeting, working closely with department management to prioritise and schedule tasks annually.
Support the supervision of the annual small works civil engineering tender, ensuring quality, cost, and time objectives are met.
Provide civil engineering expertise and guidance to other council sections and participate in corporate working groups as needed.
Help prepare and supervise annual contracts for bitumen macadam and small civil engineering projects.
Contribute to the development and maintenance of inspection systems for park pathways, roadways, and other surfaces, including DDA compliance.
Prepare payment certificates for project work and monitor monetary control.
Participate in playground construction projects, including surveying, document preparation, and project supervision.Qualifications and Requirements:
Bachelor's degree or equivalent qualification in Civil Engineering or a related field.
Supervising contractors on construction sites.
Detailed record-keeping during the construction phase, including site surveys and inspection records.
Familiarity with CDM regulations.
Knowledge of method statements and risk assessments for construction projects.
