Babergh and Mid Suffolk District Councils are looking for an Health and Safety Officer to join our team in Public Protection. You will join us on a full-time, permanent basis. The successful candidate will earn a competitive salary of £43,693 - £50,788 per annum (pro rata for part time).
Full time, part time and job share opportunities will be considered.
About the Health and Safety Officer role
Our vision is to have ‘Great communities with bright and healthy futures that everyone is proud to call home.’ You will work within a small team comprising of the Health and Safety Manager and dedicated admin support, working across the organisation as you report to and are supported by the Head of Public Protection.
We have made continued progress both in the operational delivery of Health and Safety activity and in positively developing the culture towards Health and Safety within the organisation. We are now looking to take this to the next level with a new team to deliver our priorities, core objectives and workstreams.
About you
You will hold a NEBOSH Certificate (or equivalent) and be a member of IOSH (or equivalent) recognised body.
You will be able to demonstrate the necessary experience, skills and current industry understanding to perform the role as required to be compliant with all statutory legislation.
We would expect you to undertake the NEBOSH Level 6 National Diploma for Occupational Health and Safety Management if required whilst working in this role.
You will understand and embrace innovative technology and digital solutions and be able to make best use of them in managing the service, interpreting data, and communicating with colleagues across the organisation. You will also be good at collaborating with contractors, training providers, suppliers, and other stakeholders for the success of the service.
We need a great communicator that can motivate teams to drive up health and safety performance.
