We are recruiting Executive Support Officers for the Food Standards Agency to work within their NI Operational Policy & Delivery Department.

The Role:

This is an excellent opportunity to work within the Public Sector and develop your career by contributing to the effective delivery of the Agency's Operational Policy and Delivery Team working in Northern Ireland.

You will be responsible for

Policy relating to feed, primary production, meat, dairy and egg hygiene.
Operation delivery regarding feed, primary production, meat, dairy and egg hygiene.
Participating in internal and external meetings, providing secretariat when required.
Managing data, including existing databases, to provide reports and implement proposals.The role requires a basic understanding of the workings of the NI and UK Government and training will be provided to develop:

Knowledge of food law and its implementation, and delivery of official controls in Northern Ireland;
Being conversant with the requirements of accountability to ministers and Civil Servants, and;
Experience in NI legislative procedures.

Person Specification:

As the Executive Support Officer, you will be expected to:

Produce consultation documents, Enforcement letters etc, and issue the relevant documentation to Northern Ireland stakeholders in line with FSA protocols and timescales, collating the responses.
Prepare Ministerial submissions within the set timescales.
Where appropriate, respond directly to enquiries from stakeholders and other Government Departments within the necessary timescales.
Liaise with Agency colleagues, local authorities, OGD's and other external stakeholders involved in relevant areas, working collaboratively to gather and disseminate relevant information.
Participate in internal and external meetings, providing secretariat when required, disseminating information and building appropriate contacts.
Collate, interpret and analyse data, produce reports, implement proposals and ensure that, where relevant, information is published on the FSA website in a timely and accurate manner.
Manage existing databases and develop new ones as required in relation to the relevant policy areas.
Represent the Agency in Northern Ireland by attendance at seminars, workshops and events as required.This is not an exhaustive list and there may be a need to flex and change depending on the needs of the business.

To apply for this post, you will have:

Hold a minimum of five GCSE passes (grades A*-C) or equivalent or higher and have a minimum of one year's administrative experience in an office environment, including general office duties, word processing and practical use of computers OR have an NVQ Business Administration Level 1.
Be able to examine complex information and obtain further information to make accurate decisions
Excellent communications skills, both orally and in writing, and with sensitivity and respect for others
The ability to take ownership of team and individual development by identifying capability needs and consistently achieving development objectives
Work with team to set priorities, create clear plans and manage all work to meet the needs of the customer and the business
