Strimech Engineering Limited is a company that designs, manufactures and distributes materials handling attachments for the agricultural, construction, industrial, waste and recycling sectors. The company’s products are sold through three sales channels: Direct to End User, via Authorised Dealers and as Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) supply chain sales. Founded in 1977, the company is based in Walsall in the West Midlands and employs approximately 40 staff. There are four functional departments: Finance and Human Resources, Production, Sales and Marketing and Design and Technical.

Overall Statement of Job Purpose

Reporting to the Purchasing / Pre-Production Manager, this role requires the employee to work within the Pre-Production and production team. Main responsibilities are to operator our saw machine and straighten edges on buckets ready for painting. Other duties around the yard may also be requested dependent on the workload.

Skills, Experience and Qualifications (SEQ) Set

Saw Operator / Yard Person - Skills:

Essential skills:

* Effective communication skills

* Basic PC skills

* Good knowledge of workplace safety including safe lifting and handling procedures, overhead cranes and FLT

* Good housekeeping routines to meet H&S requirements

* Flexible with overtime to meet the business needs

* Interpersonal skills (communication, conduct and attitude)

Desirable skills:

* Being able to read manufacturing drawings.

Saw Operator / Yard Person - Experience

Essential experience:

* Previous experience in a similar role

Saw Operator / Yard Person - Specific Accountabilities

* Saw cutting components for manufacturing team. Information to be obtain from drawings or lists required.

* Liaising with Purchasing department to advise of stock required.

* Straightening of bucket edges prior to painting.

* Helping with stock checks.

* Complete all required safety check sheets.

* Helping with spares orders and helping the final inspection department with packing and dispatch.

* Any other jobs (within reason) that have been requested by your line manager
