Key Responsibilities of a Cover Supervisor:

Supervise and manage classes during teacher absences, ensuring students stay on task with the provided lesson material.
Maintain a calm, disciplined, and productive learning environment, in line with the school's behaviour policies.
Provide support to students as they complete their work, answering questions and offering guidance where needed.
Report any concerns or issues to relevant teaching staff or school leadership.
Ensure the safety and wellbeing of all students during cover periods.
Assist with various school duties, including administrative tasks, as directed by the leadership team.
Uphold the school's values and contribute to its positive learning environment, promoting high standards of achievement and behaviour.Person Specification for a Cover Supervisor:

Prior experience in a school or educational setting is an advantage but not essential. Ideal for those considering a career in teaching or education.
A good standard of education is required, with GCSEs (or equivalent) in English and Maths at Grade C/4 or higher. A degree or relevant qualification would be beneficial.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage and motivate students.
Confidence in managing classroom behaviour and handling challenges professionally.
Good organisational skills and the ability to follow lesson plans effectively.
Flexible, adaptable, and able to respond positively to new tasks and situations.A positive attitude, a genuine interest in supporting young people's learning, and a commitment to maintaining high standards in the classroom.
