Full Time Teaching Assistant for Autism Support in Speen – Starting September 2024

Location: Speen, Buckinghamshire

Hours: Full time

About the role:

Our client is looking for a compassionate and dedicated Teaching Assistant specialising in autism support to join their join their vibrant primary school in Speen, starting in September 2024. This is an exciting opportunity to support the development and learning of children with autism in a nurturing and inclusive environment. This rewarding role involves working closely with students on the autism spectrum, providing tailored assistance to help them thrive in a mainstream classroom environment. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting both academic progress and social development, ensuring that each child can achieve their full potential.

The role will require the following responsibilities:

Provide tailored support to children with autism, helping them to access the curriculum and reach their full potential.
Work closely with the class teacher to implement individualized education plans and deliver targeted interventions.
Foster a supportive and inclusive classroom environment that encourages social interaction and emotional well-being.
Assist with classroom management, preparation of learning materials, and maintaining a positive learning atmosphere.
Monitor and track student progress, providing feedback to teachers and parents/guardians.
Support children during playtime, ensuring their safety and engagement in activities.
Collaborate with the school’s SENCO and other professionals to ensure the best outcomes for students.

The ideal candidate will have/be:

Previous experience working with children with autism in an educational setting is essential.
A Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) is desirable.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Patience, empathy, and a genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
The ability to work effectively as part of a team, as well as independently.
A commitment to promoting inclusion and ensuring all students have equal access to education
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Has a clear and valid DBS on the update service or willing to obtain one.
