REGISTERED MANAGER JOB DESCRIPTION

JOB CONTEXT
This residential care service is dedicated to providing user-friendly and responsive services tailored to the individual needs of residents, local authorities, and the community. All staff members are expected to work within the organization's ethos of service, quality, equality, and partnership, which includes a strong commitment to teamwork and collaboration with service users.

Salary: Up to £60,000 per annum

Location: Thornton Heath

JOB OUTLINE
The aim of the role is:

To take responsibility for shaping and delivering residential care services and managing the team to achieve these goals.
To support children aged 8 to 18 years with complex behavioral, emotional, and social difficulties, focusing on the individual needs of each child.
To provide high-quality care services that prioritize the wellbeing of the residents and to advocate on their behalf.
To offer strong, motivational leadership to the staff.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Manage referrals into the service from various sources and maintain full occupancy.
Develop a service plan that ensures high-quality, clinically informed practices.
Ensure all clinical practices and medication processes comply with legislation.
Enforce safe working practices for all staff in line with Health and Safety at Work legislation.
Ensure that all children and young people in the home have their risks and needs assessed, with regular reviews and updates.
Provide high-quality support and transition services to young people, in line with service specifications and placement plans from relevant local authorities.
Maintain professional ethics and behavior among all staff.
Coordinate service provision and act as a focal point for support, advice, and coaching to all staff.
Maintain a clean and safe environment; ensure the building is kept in good repair and maintenance issues are addressed promptly.
Liaise with regulatory organizations regarding the management of the home.
Adhere to financial and administrative procedures, working within a set budget.
Safeguard children and young people through sound management strategies, collaboration with external agencies and emergency services, and compliance with local authority safeguarding procedures.
Support staff to achieve the highest standards of care for all residents.
Assist in the management, appraisal, supervision, and support of all residential staff.
Coordinate and monitor casework and administrative functions, including the home's rotas, and evaluate performance standards.
Participate in the recruitment, vetting, interviewing, and induction of new staff.
Be part of an on-call system.
Manage Support Workers and Support Assistants within the service.
Develop effective relationships with partners and commissioners, ensuring the home is contract-compliant and well-regarded within the community.
Facilitate the development of inclusive opportunities and activities for children and young people, aimed at improving their outcomes.
Promote the participation of children and young people in the running of the home, including gathering feedback, addressing complaints professionally, and communicating relevant information to staff and partner agencies.
Ensure the home operates in compliance with relevant legislation, standards, and guidelines, such as the Children’s Homes Regulations including Quality Standards 2015, Children Act 1989, The Children’s Home (Amendment) Regulations 2011, and Care Standards Act 2000.

JOB REQUIREMENTS

Essential qualifications include a Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management, Children & Young People’s Services, or equivalent. A willingness to undertake training within six months of employment is required.
At least two years of relevant experience in residential care within the last five years.
A minimum of one year of experience in supervising and managing professional staff.
Strong knowledge and understanding of Children’s Homes regulation, including Quality Standards 2015, The Children’s Homes (Amendment) Regulations 2011, Care Standards Act 2000, Ofsted requirements, and related policies and procedures.
