An exciting opportunity is available for a Teaching Assistant to join a fantastic team at a specialist primary and secondary school, supporting children with an autism diagnosis (ASC) and associated social and communication needs in a bespoke and nurturing environment.
This school supports students aged from 7 to 16 and received an Ofsted rating 'GOOD' in 2022.

Key Responsibilities for this Teaching Assistant role:

Work closely with teachers and the SENCO to provide tailored support for students with autism and associated needs, ensuring their individual learning and developmental goals are met
Support the implementation of personalised learning plans, using a variety of approaches to engage students in their learning
Provide one-on-one and small group support, helping students develop key communication, social, and emotional skills
Foster a positive and inclusive environment where children feel safe, valued, and supported in their learning journey
Use structured strategies such as visual aids, sensory tools, and communication systems (e.g. PECS, Makaton) to enhance student's understanding and participation
Monitor and record student progress, working collaboratively with teachers and external professionals to adapt support where necessary
Assist in managing behaviour in a positive and proactive manner, using appropriate interventions to support emotional regulation and self-management
Encourage independence and self-confidence in students, promoting their well being and academic success
Essential Requirements for this Teaching Assistant role:

Experience working with children with autism, ideally in an educational setting
A caring, patient, and empathetic approach, with a strong understanding of autism spectrum conditions and associated needs
A proactive and flexible attitude to meet the diverse needs of students
