My Client is recruiting for a Design Manager in the Water Sector

The Business is a diversified group of companies providing environmental solutions, services and technologies to private and public sector customers in the UK, Ireland and throughout the world. Providing engineering service and process technologies for industrial wastewater treatment. Customers include food and beverage, chemical and many other industries.

Overview of Role:

Responsibility for managing the design of a range of projects for effluent treatment for our food and beverage customers across the UK and overseas.
Responsibility for managing the design of a range of projects for gelatine processing for our customers across the world.
Design is from the initial concept of a project through to detailed design and for construction information. This includes working closely with peers in technical sales and project management.
Consider the whole out turn cost of the design solution including design time costs, material costs, fabrication costs, erection costs and any impact that the design solution might have on other disciplines.
Typical portfolio of work will be to manage up to 5-10 designs in parallel depending on scope.
Individual projects vary from small refurbishments to complete turnkey solutions, ranging in value from £100K up to £3M.

Key Responsibilities/Requirements:

Produce well engineered, efficient designs which are cost effective, meet the requirements of the specification and which can be purchased, installed and meet the required health, safety and environmental requirements.
Produce design solutions that comply with client and industry standards.
Ensure sustainability goals are met by the design solution.
Deliver designs on time, to quality and to budget, aiming to maintain or improve efficiency.
Participate in project risk evaluation.
Maintain computer-based records in accordance with Apex Industries procedures and processes.
Undertake technical assessments and equipment selection.
Operate as a design co-ordinator leading/managing a team of multi-disciplinary engineers and technicians both internally and sub-contract.
Provide technical support to other departments.
Assists in costing jobs by estimating time input.
Assist in the continuous development of computer-based systems to improve efficiency of all above activities, particularly design schedules and as-built documentation.
Manage and develop less experienced engineers in the business.
Manage all CAD Designers to ensure the correct execution of all 2D & 3D models, fabrication and assembly drawings.
Undertake any activities responsibly as instructed by or agreed by Managers/Directors.Qualifications & Experience:

Appropriate engineering degree or equivalent qualification.
Chartered Engineer desirable.
Ideally Water Sector experience
Proven track record of leading engineering design, providing mechanical and process design and where necessary delivering work packages to a client.
Knowledge of relevant codes, standards, and legislation.
Detailed knowledge of industrial effluent treatment processes, equipment and construction methods.
Microsoft office proficient (Word, Excel) numerate and able to write regular reports.
Advantageous to be proficient in AutoCAD 2D/3D software.
UK resident with full UK driving licence
