A market leader is looking for Medical Director and Consultant Psychiatrist to join their team at one of their specialist mental health services. This is a great opportunity for an experienced Consultant Psychiatrist looking to take the next step in their career.  

Key Responsibilities of the Service Director: 

The responsible clinician and will oversee and maintain the care of all ward inpatients as required.   

Working across a male PICUE unit.  

Auditing the medical services rendered at the ward and ensuring their good quality in accordance to GMC standards of good medical practice and other relevant professional guidelines.   

To liaise with the Ministry of Justice for transfer of patients and approval of leave as required. 

The post holder will have overall responsibility of patient treatment plans, whilst liaising with the Multi-Disciplinary Team. 

Responsibility for the supervision of reports for Mental Health Act Tribunals and managers' hearings and would be expected to attend hearings. 

To lead the implementation of risk assessment, risk management and to embed clinical governance within the Hospitals. 

Assess capacity of inpatients whenever appropriate. 

Medical Director Requirements: 

Fully GMC registered & MBBS (or equivalent) qualified  

Registered on the specialist register (CCT/CESR), Section 12 and AC Status 

Knowledgeable of the Mental Health Act and Code of Practice, along with the Mental Capacity Act 2005 and Code of Capacity 

Committed to continued professional development 

A member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists (MRCPsych) or equivalent
