Social Worker - Infant - Blackpool
Role: Social Worker
Location: Blackpool Council
Team: Infant
Pay: Up to £41.91
Contract: Locum
About the Role:
An exciting opportunity has opened up within our specialist new Infants Team in Blackpool, where we are committed to implementing the principles of Born Into Care. This team focuses on keeping children with their families whenever possible and ensuring they have the best start in life. We work intensively with our multi-agency partners to support family-centered solutions, promoting children's welfare and reducing the need for children to be taken into care.
In this role, you will conduct pre-birth assessments for all single children (not part of a sibling group) and children under 12 months. This is a varied position that includes assessments, child in need, child protection, pre-proceedings, and care proceedings. If you’re a qualified social worker passionate about early intervention and family support, we’d love to hear from you.
Key Responsibilities:
Conduct thorough pre-birth and early-life assessments for infants, identifying risks and working collaboratively with families to develop protective plans.
Work closely with multi-agency partners to ensure a coordinated approach to family support.
Lead child protection plans, child in need assessments, and oversee care proceedings as required.
Support and encourage positive parenting and stability within families.
Uphold the Born Into Care principles by prioritizing family-centered care wherever possible.
What We’re Looking For:
Qualified Social Worker status with current Social Work England registration.
Proven experience in social work, particularly within child protection, family support, or early intervention.
Strong assessment and report-writing skills, with the ability to make clear, evidence-based recommendations.
A commitment to safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children.
Excellent communication and partnership skills to work effectively within a multi-agency setting.
Benefits:
Competitive hourly rate up to £41.91.
The chance to work in a new, specialized team with a focused mission.
Ongoing professional development and support.
