Air & Water Hygiene Engineer - Slough Area - £23,000 to £27,000 

Our client, a leading company in the compliance industry, is seeking a Air & Water Hygiene Engineer to join their skilled and dedicated team. This role offers an excellent opportunity to become part of a knowledgeable and passionate group. Specialising in duct cleaning and Legionella control, our client provides a wide range of services and training in water, ventilation, and grease hygiene, including TR19 Grease Compliance Cleaning and L8 Compliance. Serving public sector bodies, utility companies, and a variety of industrial, commercial, and retail clients, our client is well-established with ambitious growth plans, and they are looking for motivated individuals who are eager to learn and develop within their team. 

Responsibilities 

Act as a surveyor of air and water quality on behalf of the company, performing various compliance assessments at client premises across the UK, including: 

Legionella in accordance with the Approved Code of Practice L8. 

Ventilation (BS EN 15780). 

Establish statutory compliance and benchmark systems against industry-recognised standards. 

Liaise with customers or their designated representatives and agree on appropriate actions if non-conformances are identified. 

Key Performance Indicators 

100% attendance at all assigned jobs. 

Report any compliance issues on site with accompanying recommendations. 

Maintain a minimum of 90% on audit feedback for job paperwork. 

Complete all service reports fully and submit them to the office by the end of each working shift. 

Achieve and maintain elite driving status on Lightfoot. 

Job Specific Functions 

Liaise with clients to arrange site visits and discuss work details. 

Manage time effectively to ensure all tasks are completed within the scheduled time frames. 

Organise and ensure the functionality and calibration of all necessary equipment for the tasks at hand. 

Work with the Workshop Manager to ensure all general and specialised equipment is maintained in good working order. Report any equipment deficiencies or damage caused by negligence to the Head of Operations for investigation. 

Perform planned preventative maintenance tasks to adequately control Legionella bacteria, including: 

Temperature monitoring of water services (plant and distribution). 

Shower cleaning and descaling. 

Inspection of water services plant (e.g., cold water storage tanks, calorifiers). 

Thermostatic mixer valve inspection and servicing. 

Water sampling for microbiological analysis. 

Assisting the surveying team with cleaning and disinfection of the water services plant. 

Maintain strong technical knowledge of hot and cold domestic water systems. 

Identify potential non-conformances beyond the scope of work. 

Conduct Ventilation Surveys in accordance with BS EN 15780 / TR19 (training provided). 

Arrange travel to and from clients' sites as necessary. 

Complete assigned tasks following company method statements and procedures. 

Liaise with clients or site personnel regarding work progress and issues. 

Communicate any recommended actions or problems encountered on-site to the office immediately. 

Record all site findings and recommendations in full using the Digital Compliance System. 

Represent the company professionally in the marketplace. 

Set a professional example, ensuring that customers and staff are treated courteously. 

Ensure adherence to company procedures. 

Liaise with the sales team on significant site issues and required remedial work. 

Support other members of the surveying team, both internal and external, when possible. 

Act in accordance with the Company Code of Conduct (Ref: POL037) at all times while engaged in company duties, in any capacity and at any location. 

Although not responsible for the budget, ensure that jobs are completed within the allotted costs. 

Liaise with the office for job planning to enhance productivity. 

Resource Requirements 

Smartphone. 

Company vehicle and fuel card. 

Vehicle recovery service contract. 

Survey kit (including a torch, thermometer with temperature probe attachments, tape measure, general tools, and ladder). 

PPE (including protective footwear, high visibility vest, hard hat, safety glasses, ear protection, dust/Legionella mask, and protective overalls). 

On-the-job training as required. 

Health and Safety training as required.

Ensure company processes and procedures are followed, delivering a high-quality service to internal and external customers. 

Familiarise yourself with and comply with all relevant sections of the company's Environmental Policy.

Follow the checking in and out procedure for lone working.
