Role Description

As the Head of Digital Business Value Stream the role plays a pivotal part in driving the digital enablement of the organisation.  As we scale up the progamme and develop future operating constructs this role is responsible for the delivery of the digital business experience for all users across an international partnership. The role holder will build and lead a dynamic team ensuring seemless collaboration and innovation whilst maintaining the highest standards of security and reliability. 

The programme is an period of significant change and the role holder will be expected to lead the team through this period, demonstrating adaptability, creativity and resilience.

The role holder:

Define the product vision and roadmap: Collaborate with international partner and customer stakeholders to define the digital business vision and develop a strategic roadmap that aligns with business goals and customer needs.

Lead and manage product line managers: Provide guidance, coaching, and mentorship to product line managers, fostering a collaborative and high-performing team environment.

Ensure cross-functional collaboration: Work effectively with the functions (finance, HR, supply chain, legal, and commercial) and other Heads of Product Value Stream to break down silos and ensure seamless product development and launch and aligned strategies across the business.

Optimise the value stream: Identify and eliminate bottlenecks in the product development process, focusing on continuous improvement and maximising efficiency.

Drive data-driven decision making: Utilise data and analytics to inform product decisions, measure success, and track key performance indicators (KPIs).

Stay abreast of industry trends: Continuously research and analyse market trends to ensure the product value stream remains relevant and competitive.

Budget Responsibilities

The role holder:

Management of budget for the delivery of Digital Business activity including alignment across partners, effective management of supplier contracts and budgets and integration with the wider enterprise enablement financial plans.

Competencies

Knowledge:

Digital Platforms – familiarity with secure digital platforms, including cloud infrastructure, APIs, microservices and containerisation.

Cyber Security – knowledge of security protocols, encryption, and authentication mechanisms across classifications

IT infrastructure– understanding of approaches to ensure  the scalability, reliability and high availability of business systems

Legacy System Migration – experience in legacy system modernization and migration (e.g. ERP implementation) and an understanding of how to leverage exisiting technology whilst planning for future enhancements

Architecture and Design – designing secure and scalable architectures for digital business delivery, seemlessly integrating ERP, supply chain management and other critical systems demonstrating an

Digital Empoyee Experience – knowledge of how to deliver a digital experience which enhances productivity, collaboration and communication.

Strategic vision and leadership: Ability to develop and communicate a clear product vision for digital business, define a roadmap (considering ERP, CRM and other business systems), and make data-driven decisions for the  future.  Aligning the digital business strategy with overall business goals and objectives.

Leadership and team building: Recruiting, mentoring, motivating and retaining a high-performing team through fostering a culture of learning, innovation and collaboration.

User experience: Prioritising user needs, from across the international community, and ensuring the digital business solutions deliver an exceptional user experience balancing usability with security requirements.

Risk mitigation and compliance: Identifying and mitigating risks related to operations, security, privacy and compliance, including adherence to all applicable standards.

Agile and DevOps practices: Developing and implementing agile methodologies and DevXOps pracrices to streamline processes and continuously improve workflows.

Communication skills: Effective, clear and compelling communication with customers, partners, senior leadership and technical team to ensure buy-in to digital solutions

Collaboration skills: Facilitate cross-functional collaboration between enabling teams (commercial, legal, supply chain, security) to ensure efficient product development and launch.

Technical leadership.  Ability to lead cross-functional technical teams to develop optimised digital business architectures and solutions. Embedding innovation into the value stream.

Business acumen: Understanding the the financial implications of solution decisions including product profitability, pricing strategy, and market fit.

Vendor management: Evaluating, selecting and managing vendors for digital business components

Data analysis and forecasting: Using data to measure product success, identify trends, and forecast future performance.

Qualifications:

Relevant IT or business degree or demonstrable experience

Applicable technology certifications, product management qualifications, or demonstrable experience

This role reports to the Director of Enterprise Enablement and leads and supports the vision for the digital business value stream to enable outcome driven digital products and services to enable the FCAS and GCAP organisations.  This role will be accountable for the delivery of digital business products and services in line with programme and user requirements.  This is a unique opportunity to shape and lead the future of how we do business.

Within your first 6 months you will:

Establish the team including confirming the product organisations and recruiting key roles and defining statements of work for 3rd party supplier engagement.

Build relationships across all stakeholders to develop an aligned vision and approach.

Work with customers to understand requirements, develop and prioritise the backlog, and create and communicate a value stream roadmap to support business engagement and alignment.

Engage with other Heads of Product Value Stream and establish a regular cadence of interaction and ways of working that allow for sharing of understanding and plans across the business.

Implement appropriate systems to control the flow of work ensuring that the right things are deliverd in the right way.

Be able to demonstrate the value of digital services in your value stream to the business by launching, or improving products and services.
