We are looking for a Assistant Accountant to join our friendly office!

Assistant Accountant duties/responsibilites:

* Month and year end accounts production.

* Month and year end accounting routines.

* Dealing with external audits and audit questions.

* Reconciliations of balance sheet accounts.

* Reviewing draft statutory accounts.

* Keeping management accounts opening balances in control and reconciled.

* Cashflow forecasting.

* Budget preparations.

* Experienced in VAT, VAT returns and all aspects of payroll and pension submissions,

* Managing weekly banking including making payments in local/foreign currencies.

* Performing weekly postings & monthly multi-currency bank reconciliations.

* Creating sales invoices, ensuring that they are sent and received in a timely manner.

* Managing a purchase order system, matching invoices to orders, allocating orders to appropriate accounts.

* Managing purchase and sales ledgers.

* Preparing VAT returns on a monthly and quarterly basis.

* Supporting senior staff in the maintenance of accounting ledgers.

* Recording prepaid expenses in the accounting system and prepare monthly prepaid schedule

* Recording accrued expenses in the accounting system and prepare monthly accrual schedule

* Understanding journal entries.

* Consolidations of accounts.

* Understanding stock management.

* Improving processes for the team and wider business.

* Assisting the Finance Director and Finance Manager with ad hoc duties.

Assistant Accountant Skills:

We would love to hear from people with these essential skills and experiences:

Previous experience in a similar accounting role.

Familiarity of a manufacturing business.

Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite including very good Excel skills and experience in Powerpoint.

Prior use of accounting software is essential – SAGE 50

Experience in SAGE payroll.

Managing SAGE accounting software backups and data integrity.

Part qualified is beneficial although not compulsory - AAT Level 3 /CIMA level 2/ACCA part qualified or similar.

A proactive attitude to learning new skills and personal development.

Attention to detail and a naturally diligent approach.

A strong team player with good interpersonal skills.

Ability to work with speed and accuracy with numbers.

Ability to work independently and unsupervised yet still work to deadlines.

Ability to ask for help when required.

Attention to detail

Inquisitive nature, keen to understand the business and ask questions.

Assistant Accountant - Benefits:

£40,000 per annum salary

25 days holiday plus 8 days bank holiday

Help with study costs if applicable

20 days paid sick leave
