We are seeking an enthusiastic and compassionate Cover Supervisor to join our outstanding SEN (Special Educational Needs) School. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone experienced in supporting children with Moderate Learning Difficulties (MLD), Autism, ADHD, and other special educational needs. As part of our team, you will help foster a positive and inclusive learning environment, ensuring that every student receives the support they need to succeed.
Key Responsibilities:
Supervise classes during teacher absences, ensuring that all students, particularly those with MLD, Autism, and ADHD, stay focused and engaged in learning activities.
Adapt lesson materials to meet the specific needs of students with MLD, Autism, and ADHD, ensuring inclusivity in all classroom tasks.
Use effective behavior management strategies to support students, particularly those with Autism and ADHD, ensuring a calm and productive learning atmosphere.
Provide 1:1 or small group support to students who require additional help with social skills, communication, or emotional regulation.
Collaborate with the SENCO and teachers to implement Individual Education Plans (IEPs) and behavior management plans for students with learning differences.
Monitor and report student progress, offering feedback to the SEN team to tailor ongoing support.
The Ideal Candidate:
Experience working with children with MLD, Autism, ADHD, or other learning needs in a school setting is essential.
Familiarity with sensory processing challenges, behavior management strategies, and tailored learning plans for students with Autism and ADHD.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build positive relationships with students, staff, and parents.
Patience, empathy, and adaptability when working with students who may present challenging behaviors or need additional emotional support.
Organized, proactive, and capable of managing classroom activities independently and efficiently.
Ability to work as part of a collaborative team in delivering a supportive, student-centered environment.
Qualifications & Experience:
Previous experience as a Cover Supervisor or Teaching Assistant in a SEN setting is highly desirable.
Relevant qualifications in education, psychology, or SEN support (preferred but not required).
Knowledge of positive behavior management techniques specific to Autism and ADHD.
A strong commitment to safeguarding and promoting the well-being of all students.
