Butler Ross are currently recruiting for a Project Buyer on behalf of a client (engineering sector) on a permanent basis, located in the Birmingham area. This is a hybrid working role, 2 days a week from home after probation, and is offering a salary up to the £45,000 mark. Ideally, you will have experience in a procurement/purchasing position with direct hands-on supplier management responsibilities in a technical manufacturing/engineering environment.

Your responsibilities will include:

Negotiating favourable terms with suppliers and managing through contract life-cycle
Updating project procurement plans on cost and delivery, and working closely with the project team to ensure successful project delivery
Regular reporting to the Project Manager on the performance of the subcontractors and/or suppliers.
Supporting, challenging, and advising stakeholders, ensuring that the best commercial outcomes are delivered in line with the project.
Identifying critical/safety related long lead items, to determine and ensure sufficient early supplier engagement to minimise downstream risks and recommend an appropriate sub-contracting strategy
Assessing, managing and mitigating subcontractor /supplier risks that could contribute to supply chain disruptions.
Supporting tenders as and when required, engaging with supply chain through early supplier/partner engagement in a formal tendering process ensuring on time and high-quality responses for bid input
Working with the wider procurement team to develop and execute Continuous Improvement Activities
