We are seeking experienced engineers to take a senior role in the engineering team, helping to lead and proactively develop electronics as the business continues to expand.

Key Responsibilities:

- Provide expertise in circuit design, components, and PCB technology, focusing on areas such as EMC, power management, servo control, processor interfacing, and communications.
- Lead the design of power and signal transmission systems, defining and reviewing overall architecture, including power management, system wiring, and production processes.
- Play a pivotal role in projects, setting the standard for engineering practices and serving as an expert in the field.
- Review and analyze processes within the department, driving innovation and improvements.
- Communicate regularly with senior management, customers, and other key stakeholders, focusing on tactical and some strategic oversight of projects, technology, and team development.
- Lead the development and enhancement of technology, applying subject matter expertise to R&D activities or projects.
- Provide technical leadership for multi-disciplinary projects, fostering a systematic approach and delivering customer solutions.
- Offer insights into resource planning and management of engineers working under them.
- Support and mentor other engineers, overseeing training and development in a line management capacity.

Skills & Experience:

Essential:
- Strong degree in a related discipline, accredited by the IET, with typically 6 years of relevant experience.
- Proven experience in leading or supervising projects and teams.
- Strong theoretical and practical understanding of electrical and electronics design.
- Proficiency in analysis-based activities such as circuit emulation, performance evaluation, and power budgeting.
- Ability to assess project risks, schedules, and key design activities, while identifying mitigation strategies.
- Awareness of the full project lifecycle, from bid development to ongoing customer support.
- Demonstrated ability to innovate across all areas of engineering and leadership.
- Strong problem-solving skills, including fault-finding at the PCB or system level.
- Chartered Engineer accreditation or working towards Chartership.
- Experience leading and mentoring engineers.
- Embedded software design experience, particularly with ARM/KEIL.
- Experience with EMC to military standards, with the ability to resolve issues at the architecture and embedded levels.
- Knowledge of motors and drive technology, including motor performance calculations.
- Understanding of control systems analysis, with the ability to communicate findings to engineers and stakeholders.
- Proficiency in simulation and analysis tools like Python, Matlab, Simulink, LT-Spice, Simetrix.
- Familiarity with project management tools such as JIRA, Confluence, and MS Project.
- Experience using PCB design tools such as Altium or Cadence OrCAD.
- Knowledge of design resilience techniques, including Failure Mode Effects Analysis.
- Awareness of lightning protection for electronics.
- Familiarity with designing electronics for harsh environments, particularly military applications.
