Role Profile

As a Mechanical Estimator, you will play a vital role in developing accurate costings and scopes for a variety of mechanical installation projects. Working within a busy commercial team, you will produce competitive tenders, quotations, and estimates for mechanical works across sectors including HVAC, plumbing, and building services.

The ideal candidate will have a proven background in mechanical estimating within the M&E or construction industry and possess excellent analytical skills, strong commercial awareness, and the ability to manage multiple priorities effectively.

Key Responsibilities

Prepare and submit tenders, estimates, and quotations for mechanical installation projects.
Calculate quantities and costs of materials, equipment, and labour.
Conduct take-offs from drawings and specifications to support accurate pricing.
Assess supplier and subcontractor quotes for accuracy and value.
Liaise with clients, consultants, suppliers, and subcontractors to ensure full understanding of project requirements.
Produce project bids in a timely and professional manner.
Provide value engineering solutions and alternative proposals where appropriate.
Support project handovers to site teams with comprehensive documentation and cost breakdowns.
Continuously review and refine estimating procedures for accuracy and efficiency.
Stay up to date with industry trends, materials, and market costs.
Qualifications, Experience & Skills

A qualification in mechanical engineering, building services, or a relevant trade background.
Minimum 3–5 years of mechanical estimating experience within M&E or construction.
Excellent understanding of HVAC, plumbing, and other mechanical systems.
Strong commercial and contractual awareness.
Ability to interpret technical drawings and specifications.
Experience using estimating software (such as Trimble, Estimation, or similar).
Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and general office applications.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
Strong time management and the ability to meet deadlines under pressure.
