We are looking for an experienced outreach worker to be part of the Cambridge Street Outreach Team, collaborating with rough sleeper and homelessness services to reduce street activity through outreach, assessment, case management, emergency accommodation, and support services. The role also involves addressing community safety and reducing crime fear through a multi-agency partnership.
The role will have you completing casework for outreach clients and will involve some unsociable hours.
The working weeks consist of 37.5 hours, made up of 2-3 early shifts (05:30-13:30) of outreach street-based work and the remaining 2-3 days will be 8-4. A job description can be provided upon request.
Job Summary:
Key Responsibilities:
1. Shift work including early starts and bi-monthly street counts.
2. Contact and assist rough sleepers and beggars per city protocols.
3. Provide assertive outreach to unengaged rough sleepers.
4. Maintain accurate service user records, shared with agencies when necessary.
5. Collaborate with substance misuse and mental health agencies.
6. Ensure service users have access to healthcare.
7. Support individuals in returning to home communities when appropriate.
8. Offer tenancy support to those with a history of rough sleeping.
9. Work with housing services and supported housing providers.
10. Attend supervision sessions, training, and multi-agency meetings.
11. Promote anti-discriminatory practice and contribute to service development.
12. Use recognized theoretical models to advise on substance misuse.
13. Ensure a healthy and safe work environment.
14. Participate in statistical analysis and proactive solution-focused outreach.

Essential Criteria:
* Experience with individuals with complex needs.
* Knowledge in homelessness, mental health, criminal justice, or substance misuse.
* Understanding of rough sleepers’ needs and supported housing.
* Ability to work calmly with challenging individuals.
Desirable Criteria:
* Understanding of the Criminal Justice System and homelessness legislation.
* Experience working with various agencies.
Other Requirements:
* Subject to a Disclosure and Barring Service check at an enhanced level.

This vacancy is a permanent role paying a salary ranging between £27,000 - £31,000 depending on experience with a full permanent package offered by the charity, more details can be provided upon request.
