Deputy Facilities Manager

The Role

To assist the Head of Estates in pro-actively supporting the strategic and operational delivery across the college’s estate and Lancaster University School of Mathematics (LUSoM). This role will be instrumental in supporting the management of the Estate, including college & LUSoM projects, property management, building maintenance, site utilities, service agreements and Health & Safety compliance.

The Estates Department exists to provide and maintain a high quality and safe teaching and learning environment for students. It is also vital that we provide high quality facilities to both teachers, support staff and governors in order to facilitate and maintain an outstanding working environment which is safe and secure. In addition, we aim to constantly improve facilities, through minor and major projects of work and through the reactive, planned and preventative maintenance programme.

The Estates Department are the largest support team within the college and are responsible for: Site security, site maintenance, cleaning, reactive maintenance, planned maintenance, compliance service agreements, projects, health and Safety including training, college car parking, college minibuses, fire evacuation, first aid.

The main duties and responsibilities of this role include:

Oversee the site team

Support the development of property, projects and estates strategies

Support the Head of Estates and Deputy Estates Manager by adhering to Department of Education (DfE) GEMS guidance, ensuring best practice being followed, to manage the College site effectively

Work proactively to maintain health and safety compliance, including updating H&S policies, risk assessments, training, maintaining the Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) database

With the aid of external advisers provide support to ensure Health and Safety compliance

The Successful Candidate

Cardinal Newman College is a wonderful place to work, and this is an exciting opportunity for an enthusiastic and experienced candidate to join our friendly and well established Estates department.

The Estates department is looking for someone who is educated to GCSE Grade A* - C/9-4 or equivalent in Maths & English, has experience of managing and maintaining data and the ability to be able to understand, interpret and communicate technical issues and liaise with a wide range of stake holders.

You should display the values, attitudes, and behaviours consistent with the Catholic Ethos of the College and have a commitment to equality/diversity and the safeguarding of young people and vulnerable adults.

Terms and Conditions

Hours: 37 hours per week, full year. Starting and finishing times as agreed.

Salary: The post will be paid on the Sixth Form Colleges’ Support Staff Pay Spine at points 23 to 26 - pro rata to £37,385 to £40,287 per annum.
