Summary

The Purchasing Manager is a key role responsible for overseeing all procurement related activity. They will ensure the seamless and efficient operation of the Purchasing functions.

This Purchasing Manager requires to be a detail-oriented professional with robust leadership skills and an in-depth understanding of Supply chain processes. The successful candidate will be responsible for overseeing and managing the company's overall purchasing strategy and operations to maximise purchase/cost performance and optimisation. This role will involve working closely with suppliers, manufacturers, and internal departments to ensure the timely and cost-effective procurement of materials and services.

The Purchasing Manager will drive continuous improvements within the department through the SQCDP measures, fostering a culture of excellence and accountability.

Performance Targets

Reduce Vendor-related issues by 20% within 12 months
Reduce overall inventory by 15% within 12 months
Cut lead times by 20% through supplier and logistics optimization
Improve team efficiency by 15% through skill development over 12 months
Increase team engagement and performance through our EES Score by 20%

Key Responsibilities

Communication

Conduct structured morning meetings and further daily communication with the team to ensure clear communication of targets and objectives. Frequent communication of SQCDP status and targets.
Build and maintain direct relationships with customers and suppliers, providing clear communication on all aspects of day-to-day operations.
Escalate relevant issues promptly to the Management Team / Directors.

Safety

Ensure that all Company policies, procedures and legal requirements are adhered to which promote the Company's culture.
Collaborate with the H&S officer and committee to reduce risks in the area through effective risk assessments.
Ensure a safe working environment through regular safety controls audits.
Investigate accidents and enforce all safety controls (method statements) in the area.
Cleanliness and safety of the Finished Goods, Goods In area Containers and bulk storage areas including all 5S processes.

Cost

Key Objective: Implement Agile Supply Chain Practices. Introduce agile methods to reduce inventory, increase availability, and improve supply chain flexibility.

Key Results:

Complete a supply chain audit in 2 months to identify inefficiencies.
Implement agile supply chain practices like Just-In-Time, Kanban, Vendor Managed Inventory within 6 months.
Reduce overall inventory by 15% while maintaining service levels within 12 months. o Improve supply chain reliability to contract review.
Cut lead times by 20% through supplier and logistics optimisation.

Delivery

Key Objective: Work with the Management Team to improve the demand signal through the planning function. Improve the contract review and planning process in conjunction with other Management team members.

Key Results:

Establish a clear contract review process that commits purchasing material lead time accuracy.
Improve the levels of material shortages at the start date, whilst improving the overall stock position.
Help develop strategy for planning and customer services, improving SQCDP metrics.

People

Key Objective: Develop the Purchasing Function. Improve the skills and performance of the purchasing team through training and coaching.

Key Results:

Establish development goals for team within 3 months (PDR).
Begin regular coaching sessions to support individual growth.
Improve team efficiency by 25% through skill development over 12 months.
Increase team engagement and performance, with a 20% boost in team satisfaction.
Rewarding and Recognising Good Performance (Via the Switched On initiative).
Identifying coaching need of Poor Performance, setting Smart targets (Via the Coaching for Excellence initiative).
Identifying other coaching need and opportunities, setting Smart targets (Coaching for Excellence, PDR).
Develop and maintain the departmental skill matrix and work to ensure that succession plans are maintained.
Conduct an annual gap analysis of skills within the department.
Maintain company standards by dealing with conduct issues in an effective and timely manner. Lead by example through the promotion of Company values, standards, policies and procedures.
