As a P6 Planning Manager, you will be responsible for overseeing the planning and scheduling activities of multiple projects using Primavera P6 software. You will ensure that project plans are accurately developed, maintained, and communicated, providing critical support to project teams for effective project delivery. Your role will involve collaboration with project managers, engineers, and stakeholders to optimise project timelines, resources, and costs.
P6 Planning Manager, Key Responsibilities:
Develop, monitor, and update detailed project schedules using Primavera P6 for multiple projects.
Integrate various project schedules into a master program to monitor overall progress.
Ensure alignment of project schedules with project objectives and key milestones.
Coordinate with project teams to assign and allocate resources effectively.
Monitor resource usage and availability, making adjustments to optimise resource allocation.
Identify potential resource constraints and provide solutions to mitigate impact on project timelines.
Track project progress against established schedules and milestones.
Prepare and present regular progress reports, including schedule variance analysis.
Develop recovery plans and corrective actions to address schedule delays.
Identify and assess schedule-related risks and uncertainties.
Develop risk mitigation strategies to ensure timely project delivery.
Collaborate with the risk management team to maintain risk registers and update risk mitigation plans.
Maintain clear and effective communication with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders.
Provide regular updates on project schedules, potential delays, and risk factors.
Provide training and support to project teams on Primavera P6 and project scheduling techniques.
Lead efforts to improve planning processes and tools within the organization.
P6 Planning Manager Qualifications and Skills
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, Project Management, or a related field.
Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in project planning and scheduling, with at least 3 years using Primavera P6.
Proven experience in managing complex, multi-disciplinary projects in the telecommunications or construction industry.
Proficiency in Primavera P6 software and Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex project data.
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively with diverse teams.
Detail-oriented, organized, and capable of managing multiple projects simultaneously.
Professional certifications (e.g., PMP, PMI-SP, APM) are an advantage
