About the Role:
We are seeking a skilled and motivated Assessment Social Worker to join our vibrant team. You will play a key role in assessing the needs and risks of children and families at the front door of our services, ensuring swift, evidence-based decisions are made to safeguard and promote the welfare of children. Key Responsibilities:
* Undertake comprehensive assessments of children and families to identify risks, strengths, and needs.
* Work collaboratively with families and multi-agency professionals to develop tailored plans for support and intervention.
* Ensure all assessments are completed in a timely manner, adhering to statutory guidelines and best practice standards.
* Make clear, informed recommendations for the next steps in cases, including Child in Need, Child Protection Plans, or referrals to specialist services.
* Prepare detailed reports for Child Protection Conferences, court proceedings, and other professional forums as required.
* Work closely with other teams, including safeguarding, early help, and specialist services, to ensure coordinated support for families.
* Maintain accurate and up-to-date records on case management systems.
* Engage with children and families to build trusting relationships that foster positive outcomes.
Essential Requirements:
* Degree in Social Work (or equivalent qualification).
* Registered with Social Work England.
* Previous experience in children’s social work, particularly in assessment teams or similar roles.
* Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the Children Act 1989, and a sound understanding of safeguarding and child protection.
* Excellent assessment, decision-making, and communication skills.
* Ability to work under pressure and manage a diverse caseload.
* Full UK driving licence (desirable but not essential for all London areas).
Desirable:
* Post-qualifying experience in an assessment or frontline social work team.
* Experience in working within a multi-agency environment.
* Knowledge of systemic practice and trauma-informed approaches
