Portfolio and Governance Manager
Starting salary from £49,188 per annum, based on experience

Based in Thorpe Park, Leeds with hybrid working
We have an amazing opportunity for a Portfolio and Governance Manager to join us here at Northern Gas Networks (NGN) who will ensure compliance with strict internal and external governance protocols in the delivery of the NGN innovation portfolio.
As our Portfolio and Governance Manager, you will be working directly with the Innovation team and several other teams across the wider NGN business undertaking a critical role in the development of innovation challenge areas. A key element of the role being to capture, evidence, report on and set KPIs for internal departments. In addition, engagement with external organisations such as innovators, Ofgem, ENA/EIC and other government departments. The output from this evidence will be used by the Portfolio and Governance Manager to ensure that the research and innovation activity is aligned to the NGN strategic vision.
Furthermore, for all associated elements, ensuring that funding is secured, managed, and delivers the innovation described within the various business case and supporting project documentation.
Your key responsibilities and accountabilities will include
• Collation of a wide range of innovation opportunities that are generated both across the business or by third parties via a multitude of methods
• Ensuring the compliant delivery of all innovation, strategic, legal and procurement and internal audit matters with NGN colleagues, other GDN’s and DNO’s, government departments, the regulator, third party project partners and via EIC
• Responsible for the oversight and governance of Innovation project submissions, ensuring the project documentation for all elements of the innovation processes remain compliant with governance and delivery remains agile as required via this time bound process
• Compliant delivery of the annual regulatory reporting submissions. Active management and oversight of the regulatory reporting processes by this role will enable accurate information monthly reporting to the Senior Management team, as well as the annual Ofgem process.
• Delivery of all innovation regulatory reporting requirements, in conjunction with any additional governance requirements for wider funding streams.
• Budgeting, planning and execution of the key industry conference events and development of the NGN stand and content to enable appropriate knowledge dissemination to take place at every year. These activities must be compliant with the regulatory requirements and in line with the innovation strategy and budget
What we are looking for in our Portfolio and Governance Manager
• A good understanding of the energy, specifically the gas Industry, including technical and regulatory knowledge
• Minimum of 4 years' experience of delivering a portfolio of diverse projects
• Sound knowledge of appropriate legislation, policies, and procedures
• Knowledge of Financial & Investment procedures, budget management and forecasting skills
• Excellent communication, report writing and networking skills, strong influencing and lobbying skills and a willingness to embrace change
• Flexible approach to working across broad topic areas and meeting tight timescales
• Excellent IT skills
• Pro-active
• Ability to effectively manage priorities

• A competitive starting salary of £49,188 based on experience

We are ... Northern Gas Networks. We deliver gas to 2.7 million homes and businesses in the North East, Northern Cumbria and much of Yorkshire. That’s around 6.7million individual customers.
