Purpose of the role
As a mechanical Design Engineer, you will oversee the design, creation of BOMs (Bill of Materials), production processes, and provide technical support for a range of products.

As a Design Engineer, your responsibilities will include:
Managing the design process for various mechanical systems including tooling and bespoke machinery, ensuring adherence to specifications
Creating detailed BOMs, development work, and value engineering activities on time
Utilising Design for Manufacture and Value Engineering techniques to ensure a smooth transition from concept to production
Producing layout, assembly, and detailed drawings from sketched ideas using 3D CAD design software (SolidWorks)
Conducting engineering calculations and selecting appropriate third-party components
Ensuring all designs comply with relevant regulations, legislation, and customer-specific codes of practice
Meeting KPI targets for efficiency, cost, and service quality, ensuring designs meet operational and regulatory standards
Supporting other team members and departments as needed to ensure smooth project execution.
As a Design Engineer, you will have:
Proficiency in using 3D CAD design software, preferably SolidWorks
Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to deliver detailed design backed by appropriate calculations
Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, as well as the ability to manage time effectively under industry pressures
A customer-focused, proactive, and methodical approach to tasks.
