Job Purpose:
We are seeking experienced Lightning Protection Engineers to carry out inspections, testing, and repairs of lightning protection systems across a wide range of buildings and structures. The role requires working in a safe and professional manner, ensuring compliance with industry standards and providing the necessary certification to clients.
Key Accountabilities:
• Carry out physical tests and visual inspections based on agreed work orders, managing multiple jobs each working day.
• Use standard forms and checklists to produce detailed reports for each site and system tested, enabling the creation of internal certification for clients.
• Accurately identify any necessary remedial or repair work, applying technical expertise and a thorough understanding of British Standards. Precision and attention to detail are critical, as the information generated will inform quotations and subsequent work.
• Undertake all work in a professional and diligent manner, ensuring a high level of customer satisfaction at all times.
• Maintain your vehicle and equipment to a high standard, driving responsibly and with care.
Job Context / Key Challenges:
Lightning Protection is a highly regulated and niche service requiring annual testing as per BS EN 62305:2012. The role involves outdoor work, often at height, and may require access to difficult-to-reach locations, such as rooftops and other elevated systems. Light lifting and equipment handling will be necessary. Engineers typically work independently, although team work may be required depending on the nature of the job and safety protocols. The range of sites engineers service includes high-rise residential buildings, large retail properties, and industrial structures, including towers and chimneys. Driving is a key aspect of the role due to the dispersed nature of the client base.
Person Profile (Qualifications, Knowledge, Skill, and Experience):
• Strong, proven experience in lightning protection (testing, repair, or installation).
• NVQ Level 2 or Level 3 as a Lightning Conductor Engineer.
• Experience working in a customer-facing field service role.
• Good organisational and planning skills.
• Desirable qualifications: IPAF, SSSTS, PASMA.
• CSCS card holder.
• Full UK driving licence
