Key Responsibilities:

Manage a complex caseload involving child protection, care proceedings, and permanency planning.
Conduct in-depth assessments of children and families to determine the best course of action.
Prepare high-quality reports, including court statements and care plans, ensuring they meet legal and evidential standards.
Present evidence in family court proceedings, providing professional recommendations to safeguard children's welfare.
Work closely with legal teams, guardians, and court-appointed experts to support decision-making in the best interests of children.
Attend and contribute to case conferences, reviews, and legal planning meetings.
Implement care plans in collaboration with other professionals, ensuring children receive the support they need.
Keep accurate, up-to-date case records in compliance with statutory requirements and best practices.
Provide support and guidance to families, helping them navigate the court process and understand their rights and responsibilities.
Engage in continuous professional development to stay updated on changes in child protection laws and social work best practices.

Essential Requirements:

Qualified Social Worker (Degree or Diploma in Social Work).
Registration with Social Work England (or relevant regulatory body).
Significant post-qualification experience in children's services, specifically in court work.
Strong knowledge of the Children Act 1989, family law, and public law outline (PLO).
Experience in writing high-quality court reports and presenting evidence in court.
Excellent communication, analytical, and decision-making skills.
Ability to work under pressure and manage competing deadlines.
Commitment to safeguarding children and promoting their welfare.
A valid UK driving license and access to a vehicle (if applicable).

Desirable Skills & Experience:

Experience working within a local authority or statutory social work setting.
Understanding of adoption and permanency planning processes.
Knowledge of trauma-informed practice and therapeutic approaches for children.
Experience in working with children who have experienced abuse, neglect, or complex family situations
