Academics are currently looking for experienced Art and Design Instructors for a variety of opportunities within our partnership Stoke-on-Trent & Staffordshire secondary schools from September 2024.

Instructors (those with a PCET qualification, without QTLS) can be utilised in secondary schools to provide cover for a class when a teacher is not available. They have a subject specialism and they are employed on a flexible and day-to-day basis to ensure that a teacher can have time away from the classroom to carry out other duties (planning, assessment, or training days) or they may also be required to cover lessons for teachers who are away from school due to sickness, self-isolation or for any other absences.

Our opportunities are great as they allow our instructors and teachers to be flexible with the days that they wish to work, and ideally these roles could lead to more long-term and permanent roles in some of our schools.As an Academics Art & Design Instructor, you will:

Hold a Post-Compulsory Education and Training (PCET) qualification with an Art & Design specialism. It is desirable if you hold QTLS alongside your PCET, but this is not essential for this particular role.
Be familiar with the National Curriculum and the Art & Design programmes of study.
Have good classroom presence and excellent behaviour management skills.
Have a positive can do attitude to respond to busy schools.
