Are you an experienced leader passionate about shaping a new service and supporting vulnerable children? Our client, an established and highly respected provider of residential childcare, is seeking a Registered Manager for their brand new 6-bed home in Okehampton, specialising in Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties (EBD). This service will provide vital support for children stepping down from Tier 4 mental health settings and secure provisions.
About the Role:
As the Registered Manager, you’ll have the unique opportunity to lead and develop a new service from the ground up, building a nurturing environment for children with complex needs. You’ll ensure high standards of care, compliance with Ofsted regulations, and a smooth transition for children stepping down from secure settings.
Key Responsibilities:
Service Leadership:
Establish and manage the operational setup of a new 6-bed home.
Develop a caring and therapeutic environment tailored to the needs of children with EBD and complex histories.
Team Management:
Recruit, lead, and develop a skilled and motivated team.
Foster a positive, supportive workplace culture focused on excellence.
Compliance & Quality:
Ensure the home meets all Ofsted and statutory requirements.
Implement quality assurance processes and improvement plans.
Care Planning:
Oversee individual care plans and risk assessments to support the children’s progression.
Provide support tailored to each child’s needs, promoting stability and growth.
Collaboration & Safeguarding:
Work closely with external stakeholders, including local authorities and health professionals.
Prioritise safeguarding and the well-being of all children in your care.
Requirements:
Proven experience as a Registered Manager or Deputy Manager in a residential childcare setting.
Level 5 Diploma in Leadership and Management for Residential Childcare (or equivalent).
Strong understanding of EBD, mental health, and complex care needs.
Track record of achieving positive outcomes for children in care.
Excellent leadership, communication, and organisational skills.
Experience with new service setups or managing transitions from secure provisions is advantageous.
