Activities Coordinator
Location: East of Newcastle City Centre
Salary: £25,000 per annum
Hours: 37.5 hours per week, including occasional out-of-hours and on-call duties.
Holidays: 33 days, including bank holidays
Role Overview: We are looking for an energetic, self-motivated Activities Coordinator to join our fantastic team working within a supported housing project. You will plan and deliver a range of engaging, enriching activities that promote well-being, confidence, and teamwork for our residents. This includes managing a budget, facilitating activities, and reporting on their outcomes to justify resources and drive engagement. Activities may include go-karting, beach walks, paintballing, city trips, breakfast clubs, and more.
Key Responsibilities:
* Develop and lead weekly activities and monthly community projects that support mental health, well-being, and social inclusion.
* Encourage participation among residents, aiming for at least 80% engagement annually.
* Plan and support community projects involving residents, fostering local partnerships.
* Maintain records of activities, produce reports on outcomes, and monitor the budget, seeking to minimise costs through external funding where possible.
* Support residents in setting and working toward personal goals, including skills development and employment readiness.
* Act as a representative ensuring positive PR from activities and projects.
What We’re Looking For:
* Experience: If you have any experience in supported accommodation or similar roles, ideally working with complex needs this would be great but not necessary.
This job is more about your personality than your experience.
* Skills: Strong communication, leadership, and organisational skills with a personable and motivational approach.
* Independence: Able to work independently and as part of a team, showing initiative and problem-solving skills.
* Drive: Must hold a full UK driving license and be qualified to drive a 9-seater minibus.
* Awareness: Understanding of mental health challenges, safeguarding practices, and the unique challenges faced by residents.
Essential Competencies:
* Enthusiastic, patient, and resilient, with a genuine desire to make a difference
* Experience in lone working and working with diverse groups
* Proficiency with IT, including social media and Microsoft Office
This position requires an Enhanced DBS Check.
