Atrium Healthcare is seeking experienced Healthcare Assistants in Peterborough and surrounding areas who want to make a positive difference to the healthcare sector. We are supporting some of the most prestigious support and care locations in the UK and continue to offer outstanding person-centred care and support daily. We support adults in various settings such as residential, nursing, support and clinical facilities with daily tasks such as personal cares, companionship, and other complex needs.
As a Healthcare Assistant Your primary responsibility will be to provide the highest quality of care and assistance to residents to help them meet both their health and social care needs. This includes washing, toileting, medication, bed making and preparing meals and drinks. Enable residents to achieve independence as far as possible in all areas of their life. You will work collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to promote the well-being and independence of service users. This role requires empathy, patience, and a commitment to helping individuals navigate the complexities of mental health issues.

The Key Responsibilities of the job role:

·Deliver compassionate person-centred care to those in need of our service regardless of age, gender, race, ability, marriage or civil partnership religion, sexual orientation, or gender reassignment.
·Interact compassionately & professionally with the family members and friends of those you care for.
·Show discretion and listen to the wishes (verbal and non-verbal) of those you care for when delivering personal care, working to their care plan.
·Act professionally within the scope of your role, the law, and your ability, never breaching professional boundaries and taking direction from those holding senior roles to yourselves, such as nurses, managers, seniors and team leaders.
·Read care plans, risk assessments and documentation relating to the people you care for to ensure you understand their risks, needs and their communication needs.
·Demonstrate understanding of consent, capacity, and least restrictive option in your practice.
·Document all tasks, events and notes clearly and in a timely manner.
·Share significant events with senior team members and ensure you handover relevant information to the team and seniors on duty.
·Act in the best interest of the people you care for reporting and raising concerns of poor practice and events that would constitute safeguarding
·Support with the identification and management of risk and work within the confines of risk assessments always. Ensure all risks are escalated.
·Respond to all emergency situations with speed, calmness, professionalism, and skill delivering basic life support when required.
·Keeping health & safety at the forefront, working within the parameters of risk assessments, COSHH, LOLER etc and check the environment around you and equipment before use and reporting any malfunctions immediately.
·Accompany the people you care for to external activities such as shopping, leisure activities or medical appointment and complete domestic duties where required.
·Maintain training and supervision where required.
 
The successful candidate will have:

·A minimum of 6 months paid UK care experience
·Enhanced DBS
·Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
·Flexibility to work
·The right to work in the UK
·Commitment to providing high-quality care and support.
·Ability to work effectively as part of a team and autonomously
·Ability to remain calm under pressure and manage challenging situations
·Provide a supportive and structured environment that promotes positive change.
·A sense of humour and the ability to bring a smile to the service users face!
·Excellent timekeeping skills
·Empathy, patience, and a non-judgemental approach to working with individuals with mental health challenges.
