Astute's Power Team is partnered with a major waste management and energy company to recruit for a Mechanical Technician to join their brand new Energy from Waste Power Station in Essex.

The vital Mechanical Technician role comes with a salary between £45,000 - £50,000 + 6% call out allowance (on basic salary) + overtime + bonus + excellent benefits.

Responsibilities and duties

Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Team Leader, you will be responsible for:

Carrying our fault finding, planned, reactive and breakdown maintenance activities on mechanical assets including steam boilers, pumps, gearboxes, valves, etc.
Working in line with maintenance techniques and best practices
To ensure compliance with the pressure regulations and lifting gear inspection requirements
Assisting in plant developments and projects
Supervising and setting to work on site contractors
Maintaining accurate maintenance records on the site CMMS
Assist in outage planning, scheduling and coordination
Working closely with the EPC Team during commissioning phase into full operations
To ensure the availability of plant spares

Professional qualifications

We are looking for someone with the following:

Ideally have an NVQ Level 3 qualification in a relevant engineering discipline such as Mechanical Engineering
A health and safety qualification such as an IOSH will be highly advantageous

Personal skills, prior experience and knowledge

The Mechanical Technician role would suit someone who has:

Hands on maintenance experience with mechanical systems including, boilers, pumps, compressors, gearboxes, cranes etc
Practical knowledge of process plant and equipment gained in a heavy engineering environment such as power generation, petrochemical, steel works, CHP plant, paper mill etc.
Royal/Merchant Navy Marine Engineers will also be considered
Involvement in plant mobilisation and commissioning is desirable but not essential.

A basic salary between £45,000 - £50,000
