RM Recruit is pleased to partner with a distinguished not-for-profit organisation based in Oldbury in their search for a seasoned Payroll Officer to join their team on a full-time, permanent basis. This role is office-based Monday to Friday, offering flexible working hours and a competitive salary package.

In this position, you will report directly to the Head of Finance and will be entrusted with managing the complete payroll process from start to finish. Your responsibilities will include ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, handling payroll queries, and maintaining compliance with relevant regulations.

Responsibilities include:

* Ensure accurate and timely monthly payroll payments through our payroll bureau.

* Process data efficiently using the iTrent payroll system and address payroll-related queries and issues.

* Handle processing of starters, leavers, and holiday requests.

* Oversee month-end and year-end payroll tasks, including P60s, and support the finance team with payroll-related issues and audits.

* Verify that statutory and HMRC deductions, such as SMP, SSP, SPP, and AOE, are correctly calculated by the payroll bureau.

* Ensure timely and accurate payments to third parties, including HMRC and CMS.

* Manage the company’s pension schemes, ensuring correct and timely contributions and compliance with auto-enrolment requirements.

* Apply tax code notifications from employees and HMRC accurately.

* Collaborate with HR to maintain and update personnel records and the HR database.

* Post monthly payroll and pension journals.

* Prepare statutory returns as required.

The ideal candidate will have substantial payroll experience and be able to quickly adapt to the role. Strong communication skills and the ability to build effective relationships are crucial. You should excel at managing your workload independently, demonstrating efficiency and a proactive approach. While experience with Sage 200 is highly advantageous, it is not mandatory. Prior experience in the third sector is preferred, but we are open to considering candidates from other sectors who bring a strong background in payroll management.

If you are on the lookout for an opportunity of progression in a forward-thinking organisation, we encourage you to apply
