Our client Scottish Power Transmissions are currently recruiting for a Development Project Manager to join their team based in Cambuslang on a contract basis initially Ideally for this role they are looking for an experienced Project Manager with a background in managing Electrical Infrastructure projects and consents and planning. Purpose
The role of Senior PM sits within the Transmission Major Projects function of SP Energy Networks. In this role you will be the owner and driving force for projects from concept through to handover to the project units. You will develop and implement a project management approach to the development of major projects, provide leadership and co-ordination across the internal stakeholder groups to ensure that projects are ready for delivery within agreed timescales.
Responsibilities
• Provide leadership for programme development and planning activities associated with major projects
• Create and maintain a high-level network activity roadmap ensuring appropriate visibility of main elements of all works can be considered in key network development and co-ordination decisions Effectively manage project risk and mitigate the impact of issues that may emerge
• Comply with the SPEN/SPT Integrated Management System
• Identify and understand the potential interactions between the various proposed projects and develop initiatives which minimise the impact on deliverability
• Manage interfaces with outage planning to ensure the outage programme is fully informed by the requirements of the major projects investment programme
• Develop accurate capital expenditure forecasts and output projections on assigned projects
• Supervise the creation of robust project plans, ensuring progress against plans
• Manage budget and expenditure on projects prior to handover to project units
• Interface with customer representatives on development issues
• Liaise with Consent and Environmental Planning teams to ensure engineering development activity is programmed to meet external constraints and that the delivery timeline is achievable
• Liaise with regulation department and provide input on impact assessment of proposed regulatory changes
• Ensure any regulatory changes introduced are managed to avoid negative impacts on major projects development and deliverability
• Communicate programme development and project status to stakeholders
• Ensure engineering development issues which are not able to be reconciled with the requirements of the overall investment programme are highlighted to management with recommendations for mitigating actions
• Engage and drive process improvement initiatives in concert with colleagues and other stakeholders
Skills and Requirements
We are looking for individuals who have thorough knowledge of the transmission network along with significant experience of managing electrical infrastructure projects and knowledge of the investment approval process. You will have well-developed customer service, negotiation, and communications skills, along with excellent organisation and time management experience. Being able to make balanced decisions, considering all relevant information, and consulting with key stakeholders is important for this role, along with the following:
Experienced in working in multi-disciplined teams at a professional level.
Experienced in planning activities for complex and interactive technical projects.
Experienced in working on projects with a timeframe lasting several years.
Experienced in large expenditure projects delivering on a timeline with commercial implications.
Working knowledge of procurement process requirements.
Working knowledge of health, safety, and environmental legislation.
Understanding of and able to implement quality assurance processes.
Awareness of regulatory impact on business revenues.
Knowledge of network and business data and network management systems.
Ability to devise solutions to complex problems/challenges.
To be successful in this role you will need to demonstrate as a minimum:
Degree in relevant Engineering Discipline or equivalent experience
Signifgicant experience in a programme delivery or project planning environment
Sound IT skills with competent experience in Microsoft Office suite
Valid Driving Licence
