Salary:  £65,000-£70,000 depending on experience, plus 10% bonus package

Hours: 37.5 per week, Monday - Friday

Job Overview

Our clients are a leading bioethanol and animal feed producer, part of AB Sugar within the Associated British Foods group. Their plant operates 24/7 to deliver high-quality bioethanol and animal feed, with an emphasis on innovation and asset reliability.

As an E&I Engineer, you'll be a vital part of the Engineering team, focusing on electrical and instrumentation systems' reliability and improvements. You'll work on projects to boost plant efficiency, manage key systems, and support regulatory compliance.

Key Responsibilities

Act as a key stakeholder for the implementation of major, complex E&I projects which will enhance plant reliability and performance.
Assess the plant's aging assets and electrical systems for life cycle, efficiency and suitability, make recommendations for continuous improvement of such systems.
Support in the ongoing compliance and operability of key E&I systems such as Burner management systems, HV/LV network distribution and distributed control systems including assessment of OEM servicing reports and recommendations from an engineering perspective.
Develop engineering solutions to persistent reliability challenges.
As part of the EC&I engineering team you will participate with the Engineering Management of Change process and provide valuable input in safety studies such as FMEA, FTA, HAZID and HAZOP.
Work with the wider EC&I team in order to support plant activities when required, deputise for other E&I personnel in their absence.
Proactively produce sophisticated E&I inventory data for the management of obsolescence risk, communicate identified risks in written reports to the Senior EC&I Engineer for consideration of overall business risk. Develop plans for economic mitigation of identified obsolescence risk.
Functional Safety

You will assist to ensure the Safety Instrumented Systems (SIS) remain complaint and fit for purpose. Assistance will be given the wider functional safety team for the determining of instrument failure mechanisms.
Assist the functional safety team for Compliance with IEC-61511
OT Cyber Security

Uphold OT Cyber security policies and procedures relative to your role

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Experience:

Electrical and Instrument systems knowledge: It is essential the job holder has substantial experience and comprehensive understanding of: Motor control systems including DOL, VSD and soft start. Motor Control Centres. LV distribution networks including various protection principles and devices (HV desirable). Instrumentation Systems. Device communication protocols (Foundation Fieldbus experience desirable)
It is desirable that the candidate has foundation level understanding of Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Programmable Logic Controllers (PLC), ideally Emerson and Siemens respectfully.
Functional Safety Knowledge: The job holder will have working knowledge in this area and be familiar with the requirements of IEC 61508 and 61511 and the practical implementation of those standards on a major process plant.
This role requires an education background to HND level, (electrical engineering degree is desirable). Candidates that do not meet the required qualifications will be considered if they possess demonstrable equivalent underpinning knowledge and understanding, including discipline relevant professional experience.
Personal attributes

Able to work efficiently in a team environment and possess a level of communication and interpersonal skills that will facilitate working closely with the production team, process engineers, design engineers, craft technicians and staff responsible for purchasing.
Creative problem solving will be required to be able to work with sophisticated E&I systems and identify then implement improvement projects.
A primary role responsibility is to improve E&I systems reliability working closely with the plant reliability engineer, the chosen candidate will be familiar with principles of asset reliability targets and be able to work autonomously in achieving asset availability.
The ideal candidate will have extensive experience of working in a similar position on a large scale manufacturing site (ideally COMAH), with a track record of delivery proven over a number of years and will be fully familiar with the legislative requirements to ensure E and I compliance.
The role requires good verbal, written and presentation skills, in order to be able to communicate effectively at all levels.
