Job Purpose:

We are supporting our automotive HGV client in recruiting for a Workshop Chargehand to oversee workshop personnel and equipment while serving as the primary contact for both external and internal customers. You will ensure document compliance in line with company standards and uphold high levels of health and safety management.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

Vehicle Servicing & Maintenance:

*

Service, repair, and maintain company products and other manufacturers' vehicles.

*

Ensure all work aligns with DVSA standards and roadworthiness guidelines.

*

Prepare vehicles for HGV MOTs, ensuring all documentation meets ISO inspection and MOT requirements.

Workshop Personnel Management:

*

Plan and control workshop personnel efficiently.

*

Oversee and manage workshop break times.

*

Identify and support staff development opportunities.

*

Collect and manage timesheets via Mitrefinch time management system.

Customer Communication & Relationship Management:

*

Act as the first point of contact for internal and external customers.

*

Build quotes for repairs, discuss costs with customers, and obtain approvals.

*

Collaborate with the Managing Contract Engineer to maintain strong customer relationships.

*

Ensure all remedial work meets customer satisfaction effectively.

Job Planning & Execution:

*

Plan jobs effectively and communicate progress updates.

*

Complete service sheets and job cards within one day of job completion.

*

Manage workshop WIP and ensure real-time invoicing.

*

Inspect, repair, and document findings on chassis and specialist equipment.

*

Ensure all work follows manufacturer times and guidelines.
