Job Title: Teaching Assistant / TA

Salary: £80 - £90

Teacher Active takes pride in collaborating with schools in Selly Oak that assist vulnerable children and students aged 3-16 with Autism and SEMH needs, which vary from Moderate Learning Difficulties to challenging behaviours. These schools provide for children and students who exhibit disruptive behaviour, verbal and physical outbursts of frustration, ADHD, and Autism.

As a SEMH Teaching Assistant, your collaboration with students, teachers, and therapists is vital in crafting personalized support plans for each student. Your responsibilities include deploying strategies to de-escalate challenging situations and nurturing a safe learning environment. You will aid teachers in creating and executing engaging lessons tailored to the individual abilities, learning styles, and needs of the students. Moreover, you will offer consistent one-on-one and group support to students requiring additional assistance. In your role with SEMH students, you are tasked with monitoring their physical, social, and emotional well-being, ensuring a secure environment, and customizing your educational support to each student's distinctive needs.

The ideal TA / Teaching Assistant should have the following:

Level 3 qualified and/or a minimum of 6 months’ experience in an educational establishment
A persona that embodies calmness, patience, and care.Good communication skills
A thorough comprehension of child protection and safeguarding guidelines is essential.
Experience in working with supporting students in their education on a 1:1 and a small group basis
A calm, patient and caring persona
Effective behaviour management skills
