Foundation Finance Officer
Location: Kingston-upon-Thames, Surrey, KT2 6RL
Salary: Range from Point 17 to 22 (£32,421-£35,031 pro rata actual £18,031 - £19,483) Pay award pending)
Hours: 3 days a week (Term time plus 3 weeks)
The Role
Tiffin School is looking to appoint a Finance Officer to join our growing team.
This new role will be devoted to managing the accounts for The Tiffin School Foundation, a separate charity, which is a landowner, fundraises and supports Tiffin School. There are large areas of overlap between the Foundation and Tiffin School finances and operations. The role of The Tiffin School foundation has increased significantly recently, creating the need for its own dedicated finance personnel.
The role is part time, 21.6 hours a week, over 3 days with some flexibility in working hours by agreement with the successful candidate. Hybrid working available.
Key Responsibilities
Bookkeeping and Reporting:
* Record all donation income on the ToucanTech database
* Provide a donor care service for all Foundation donors, in conjunction with the Development and Alumni Manager
* Transfer and input income figures to Quickbooks, and excel cashbook
* Process and record all expenditure transactions on Quickbooks
* Perform month end bank reconciliations
* Process gift aid claims and work to increase gift aid income
* Prepare budget v actual reports – weekly and monthly
* Raise sales invoices and chase debtors
* Reconcile client accounts and deposits
Additional Tasks:
* Prepare year end accounts preparation and external audit
* Prepare reports for the Foundation Board and Grists Committee
* Work with Finance team on areas of overlap between Foundation and School, reconcile and transfer funds
* Work with Development and Alumni Manager to increase Foundation income
* Assist with other Finance department work as required
Skills and Qualifications
* Full or Part qualified AAT accounting technician or equivalent
* 2 years finance experience, to include:
* Donor database transaction inputting
* Payment processing
* Ledger accounting
* Bank reconciliations
* Effective communication skills with the ability to use a range of communication styles and techniques appropriate for the target audience and purpose
* Strong analytical skills and attention to detail
* Work as part of a team and on own initiative
* Flexible approach and ability to work under pressure
* Ability to prioritise and plan workloads to meet specified deadlines
* Ability to exercise sound and balanced judgement over financial decisions
* Good Microsoft Office skills
* Knowledge of Taxation (Gift Aid and VAT)
