About the role: SSA: We are seeking a passionate and proactive Student Support Assistant (SSA) to join our dedicated team at a large college in Southgate, Enfield. This exciting opportunity is ideal for those who are eager to make a tangible difference in the lives of young adults with learning difficulties and disabilities. As a Student Support Assistant, you will work closely with learners aged 16-24 in the LLDD (Learners with Learning Difficulties and Disabilities) department. The students you’ll support have a range of needs, including PMLD (Profound and Multiple Learning Disabilities), MLD (Moderate Learning Disabilities), physical difficulties, and autism. Many students also have EHCPs (Education, Health, and Care Plans), so your role will be crucial in helping them achieve their goals.
Your main focus will be embedding strategies and adjustments into Teaching, Learning, and Assessment practices, providing in-class interventions. You will work alongside Speech and Language Therapists (SLT) and other specialists to support the students, ensuring that their communication, ICT, English, and maths skills are developed in line with their needs. Some students are non-verbal and use communication aids such as tablets and visual cards. Personal care support may also be required, so candidates with a background in care are highly encouraged to apply.
