Payroll Manager 

Our client is a leading accountancy practice operating across Wigan and the surrounding areas, with the aim of delivering high quality and proactive advice to businesses across the North West.

They work in partnership with clients across a broad range of sectors, ranging from individuals and partnerships to small and medium sized limited companies.

Based from our offices in Appley Bridge, Wigan, we have a close-knit team of skilled and knowledgeable staff with extensive experience in helping businesses through the services we offer.

This includes company accounts and tax returns, full payroll services, bookkeeping, VAT returns and self-assessment returns.

What does the role entail?

The role is to deliver the firms payroll services to all clients, ensuring compliance with current legislation and providing advice on payroll-related matters.

You will be responsible for managing a diverse portfolio of clients, ensuring accurate and timely payroll processing, including reporting to clients, pension submissions, and HMRC filings.

The ideal candidate will have an acute eye for detail, excellent time management skills and, crucially, the ability to manage multiple deadlines effectively.

As part of our team, you will:

Look after a range of weekly and monthly payrolls, offering end-to-end payroll processing for a varied portfolio of clients. This includes issuing payslips, summary reports and PAYE information to clients and making RTI submissions.
Manage pension submissions across a range of auto-enrolment platforms as well as meeting any ongoing auto-enrolment requirements.
Liaise with HMRC to resolve any payroll queries.
Process payroll journals into cloud accounting software.
Manage of payroll data including the set up new payroll schemes.
Prepare and submit any other relevant employment tax returns, such as P11Ds.
Support client managers in the completion of monthly CIS returns.
Where relevant, issue invoices to clients for the payroll services provided.
Our ideal candidate will also be able to:

Plan their own time to ensure delivery of a timely and efficient service to clients.
Work flexibly, where required, to accommodate the needs of our clients across the month.
Liaise with staff working across other areas, where applicable, to ensure a complete and prompt service for clients.
Preferred skills and qualifications:

2+ years of experience in processing payroll within an accountancy practice.
Strong knowledge of payroll principles, practices and regulations in UK.
Knowledge and experience of using payroll software, preferably BrightPay, as well as having strong MS Office skills.
Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and documentation.
Strong communication and client service skills.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
