Job Title: Residential Support Worker
Children’s Home
Hours: Flexible, including evenings, weekends, and holidays

Overview:

As a Residential Support Worker, you will work within a small team to support the development of the children’s home. You’ll enhance the lives of children by actively participating in daily activities and continually developing your skills through training and professional development. Being an effective team member, you will contribute to creating a positive and nurturing environment for all residents.

Key Tasks:

* Recognise and meet the needs of the young people, ensuring they are protected from discrimination within and outside the home.

* Safeguard the welfare of young people, both in and out of the home environment.

* Support management in maintaining compliance with Ofsted regulations, legislation, and company policies.

* Provide responsible supervision to ensure the safety and well-being of the children, promoting acceptable standards of hygiene and behaviour.

* Participate in the development, implementation, and monitoring of individual care plans.

* Organise and oversee recreational and leisure activities, including holidays and camps, to ensure an engaging and stimulating environment for the children.

* Engage in ongoing training and positively contribute to the children’s home environment.

* Adhere to Local Authority Child Protection Procedures and the home’s safeguarding guidelines, reporting any concerns immediately to the Registered Manager or Senior Residential Worker.

* Foster positive relationships with parents, social workers, schools, and other professionals involved in the young people's welfare.

* Use the home environment to support and enhance the social skills of the young people.

* Maintain a safe and nurturing environment tailored to the individual needs of each young person.

* Administer medication and care for children when unwell, under the guidance of medical professionals.

* Perform household duties, including cooking, cleaning, and supporting children to maintain tidy rooms.

* Uphold the home’s therapeutic philosophy and approach.

General Duties:

You will attend meetings and training sessions as required and contribute to a positive working environment. Flexibility with working hours is essential to meet the needs of the home. You must comply with Health and Safety regulations and undertake any additional duties reasonably requested by your line manager. A commitment to ongoing personal and professional development is expected to ensure the highest standards of care.

Organisational Responsibilities:

* Perform duties that align with the role and level of responsibility as directed by the Manager.

* Ensure Health and Safety standards are met.

* Adhere to the Data Protection Act, maintaining confidentiality in all aspects of your work.

* Engage in necessary training and development for the role.

* Effectively use electronic systems as required.

* Comply with the organisation’s Equal Opportunities Policy.

* Adhere to the no-smoking policy and observe Health and Safety standards.

* Ensure compliance with safeguarding procedures, keeping the manager informed of any child protection issues or serious complaints.

* Be flexible in adapting to changes in tasks and responsibilities as needed.

* Occasionally travel to Colindale offices for induction, training, meetings, or cover.

*** Must have relevant experience and training in Safeguading of Adult and Children (Only apply if you have the required experience and training)
