Rough Sleeper Support Worker  
 
LOCATION:               West Malling     
SALARY:                   £13.77 Basic 
DURATION:               Contract till March 2025  
HOURS:                     15 per week
 
NOTE: WE ARE UNABLE TO PROVIDE SPONSORSHIP OR SUPPORT THOSE ON A SKILLED WORKER VISA.
 
Day-to-day duties:

Engage rough sleepers in designated areas, through street contact, including early and late street outreach, maintaining a regular street presence, and initiating and maintaining contact with those who are sleeping rough.
To be a point of contact and expertise for staff working with people who are homeless, sharing best practice and helping upskill other workers.
Use an assertive outreach approach to those who are reluctant to engage with support services.
Assess rough sleepers in order to identify their risks and support needs.
Assess the housing and resettlement needs of each client, supporting them into accommodation suitable to their needs and choices.
Facilitate and support engagement with health services, domestic abuse services, health and mental health services and substance misuse services including where needed arranging transport to and from services to attend appointments.
Maintain accurate and up to date financial and administrative records and assist in the compilation of monthly performance reports and other reports as required.
Assist, advise and support clients to create and sustain a home through housing support, which may include: budgeting, debt management, education, employment, setting up home, neighbour complaints, health and safety, accessing welfare and housing benefits, mental health and substance misuse, tenancy sustainment referring to more specialised agencies where appropriate.
Ensure that rough sleepers referred to accommodation are given full and comprehensive information about the accommodation, including details of service availability, rules of residence, length of possible stay and rent requirements, in order to ensure a high rate of successful retention.
Support clients to integrate into their community, accessing appropriate services and local amenities. To accompany and actively encourage service users to access and engage with these services.
Regularly report on progress to line manager during supervision sessions, to ensure a high level of support is given to clients, and all files, records are kept accurately and up-to-date commensurate with ISO Standards, GDPR guidance and all monitoring systems.
Attend and facilitate weekly drop-ins, administer relevant housing advice, refer/signpost to appropriate services and liaise with relevant local authority.  

Promote appropriate client involvement in the delivery of the service and ensure that service user views are heard, responded to and reasons for decisions are given as soon as possible.
Proactively seek and develop joint working solutions with existing agencies and other services to develop a holistic approach, and where possible to co – ordinate support so that clients are given greater access to service provision, beyond the limitations of this role.
Ensure safeguarding concerns are recognised and reported as per the organisations Safeguarding Policy and Procedures, ensuring responsibility for the continued oversight of this is maintained and concerns acted upon. Essentials:
