Our client, a specialist scientific consultancy is looking for a Lab Supervisor to help run one of their testing labs. The role will be operational by nature, acting as a hands-on leader, managing customer priorities and workflow to ensure customer satisfaction, whilst also helping to develop the lab team. Key duties will include: -
Leading a team of technicians and test engineers
Ensuring resources within the lab are maximised
Working to customer requirements, ensuing testing is completed on time with often competing customer priorities
Assisting with training and development of the lab staff
Ensuring H&S within the lab
The successful candidate will be able to demonstrate all or most of the following: -
A Level (or higher) – physics (ideally), or other relevant scientific / engineering discipline
Experience of leading and developing a lab team with a particular focus on coaching, training, etc
Experience of resource management and workflow scheduling
Practical lab skills
The ideal candidate will have come up through technical roles in the labs and have a couple of years’ experience supervising a team – day to day direction of a small team rather than full appraisals, etc is fine.
