About the Role:
Tradewind are recruiting on behalf of a SEN school in St Helens. We are seeking a dedicated and compassionate Special Educational Needs (SEN) Teaching Assistant to join a supportive and nurturing school in St Helens. The successful candidate will play a key role in supporting children with diverse learning needs, helping them to achieve their full potential and thrive in a positive and inclusive learning environment.
As a SEN Teaching Assistant, you will work closely with teachers and other support staff to provide tailored assistance to students with a range of needs, including but not limited to autism, ADHD, dyslexia, and physical disabilities. You will assist in the classroom, provide one-on-one support, and help to implement individual learning plans for students.
Key Responsibilities:
Provide one-to-one or small group support to students with SEN, both inside and outside the classroom.
Assist with the implementation of individual education plans (IEPs) and adapt activities to suit individual needs.
Support students in developing social, communication, and life skills.
Foster a positive, inclusive environment where students feel confident and supported.
Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs (Special Educational Needs Coordinators), and other professionals to develop and review student progress.
Support students with physical and personal care needs where required.
Assist in managing behavior and supporting students in overcoming barriers to learning.
Contribute to monitoring and tracking student progress, providing feedback to teaching staff as needed.Key Requirements:
Previous experience working with children or young people, preferably within a SEN setting.
A genuine passion for supporting children with special educational needs.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build trusting relationships with students and staff.
A proactive, patient, and empathetic approach to supporting students.
Knowledge of a range of SEN needs (e.g., autism, ADHD, dyslexia) and the strategies used to support them.
Relevant qualifications such as a Level 2 or Level 3 Teaching Assistant qualification (or equivalent) are desirable, but not essential.
Enhanced DBS check (or willingness to undergo one).What We Offer:
