Our client, a leading international Maximo EAM consulting organisation and IBM platinum partner, has identified a requirement for an OpenShift engineer so to work with London-based clients. The role will provide an opportunity to learn about IBM Maximo technical environment and will require UK born candidates who can be DV vetted.

Main Purpose:
As an OpenShift Engineer, you will play an integral part in the environment and infrastructure design, builds and troubleshooting, prior a core installation of the IBM Maximo EAM application.
Specific Responsibilities:
Responsible for working alongside the Application team (Maximo Consultants or Developers) to ensure the correct infrastructure environment is in place for our customers and their varying needs. This will involve the installation of OpenShift (and adjacent technologies) both on client’s infrastructure and on their cloud platform of choice.
In addition to the elements outlined below, the OpenShift Engineer will need to undergo relevant security clearance (SC or DV), so that they can work with the wide variety of clients. It is also expected that there will be periods where frequent travel to customer sites in London will be required.
Key elements of the role will include, but are not limited to:
Infrastructure Design and Implementation:
o Comprehensive Redhat OpenShift knowledge including the build of both 'bare metal' and cloud based clusters.
o Lead the Design, deployment, and configuration of infrastructure for IBM Maximo (version 8 and 9) applications using published IBM Cloudpaks and bespoke custom archives.
o A good understanding of the IBM Maximo product line and how to implement and deploy the associated structured OpenShift Master nodes, Worker Nodes and running PODS.
o Maintain IBM catalogues and understand their relationships to one another.
o Develop an understanding of the performance characteristics of Maximo v8/9 and ensure the system structure complies with both consultancy and product best practice.
o Collaborate with cross-functional teams across the business to define infrastructure requirements and ensure seamless integration.
o Implement high-availability and disaster recovery solutions.
System Administration:
o Manage and maintain Maximo v8/9 environments, including production, staging, and development.
o Perform regular system updates, patches, and upgrades.
o Monitor system performance and ensure optimal operation.
Security and Compliance:
o Implement security best practices and ensure compliance with organisational and the consultancy’s policies.
o Support regular security assessments and vulnerability scans.
o Provide content information to help develop and maintain documentation for security policies and procedures.
Support:
o Provide technical support for Maximo v8/9 infrastructure related issues.
o Troubleshoot and resolve infrastructure related problems sometimes within tight timescales.
o Work closely with application support teams to address performance and availability issues.
Documentation and Reporting:
o Maintain comprehensive documentation of infrastructure configurations, design, procedures, and policies.
o Generate regular reports on system performance, security, and utilisation.
o Provide input for capacity planning and infrastructure roadmaps.
Person Specification
Skills & Personal Qualities – Required:
* Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or relevant industry experience.
* Proven experience with Red Hat OpenShift administration and support.
* Strong knowledge of Kubernetes, Docker, and container orchestration.
* Experience with CI/CD tools and processes.
* Familiarity with DevOps practices and tools.
* Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., Bash, Python).
* Strong problem-solving and troubleshooting skills.
* Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
* Ability to work in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment.
Skills & Personal Qualities – Desired:
* Certifications:
* Red Hat Certified Specialist in OpenShift Administration.
* Certified Kubernetes Administrator (CKA).
* IBM Maximo Certifications (any applicable)
* Additional Experience:
* Experience with cloud platforms (e.g., AWS, Azure, Google Cloud) and their integration with OpenShift.
* Knowledge of EAM technologies such as IBM Maximo would be desired, but not essential
