Initial start in January 2025, we’re searching for three ambitious Trainee Technical Building Consultants ready to make their mark in the dynamic world of construction! This is your chance to immerse yourself in the art and science of house building and risk management.
As a key player on our team, you’ll work with builders to assist in pinpointing and managing critical construction risks to reduce warranty claims, all while adhering to NHBC Standards. You'll engage in comprehensive risk assessments of project designs, evaluating the robustness of construction drawings and craft bespoke technical risk management plans that ensure every structure is built to last.

What you’ll be doing
Upon starting your role as a Trainee Technical Building Consultant, you will receive comprehensive training joining NHBC’s Award Winning Training Academy focused on understanding the construction process. You will learn how to identify and manage construction risks to mitigate warranty claims, using NHBC Standards on new build projects.
This includes:
* Learning how houses and apartments are built
* Guidance on completing holistic risk assessments to evaluate project and builder risk levels.
* Developing tailored technical risk management plans.
* Coordinating with specialists on warranty-only projects.
* Assisting with joint building site inspections as part of our technical risk management strategy.
* Assist in negotiations with developers, builders and their professional advisors, from initial design to completion, to ensure proposals are satisfactory for warranty in accordance with NHBC Standards.
The ideal candidate will have:
The Trainee Technical Building Consultant should possess strong organisational skills to effectively manage their own workload. Enthusiasm for learning is key.
* Coordinate tasks with other specialists in line with SOPs and SLAs.
* Learn NHBC’s IT systems and ensure adherence to NHBC and H&S requirements for personal and others' safety.
* The candidate should also be proactive in promoting the business, contributing to its growth, and providing guidance to builders and consultants on NHBC Standards and building technology.
* Ability to assist in resolving customer complaints and manage conflicts through appropriate escalation.
* Experience in the building/construction industry is beneficial, but not essential
* Self-motivated, with the desire to work towards attainment of an appropriate qualification in a construction related discipline.
* Good communication skills both verbal and written.
* A team player with a positive attitude.
Education and Qualifications
* Minimum GCSE Maths and English (Grade 4 or above).
