Purpose of the Role (Overview):
To work as an integrated part of the Mechanical Design Department, creating, maintaining, and implementing changes to configured articles (Drawings and Bills of Material) for legacy and development products. Support the business-wide Change Control Board and assist in creating data repositories and change workflows for projects. Responsibilities include managing and auditing configuration baselines and generating project metric performance within the PDM/PLM system framework.
Key Responsibilities:
CAD draughting of production and development changes
Managing the problem report and ECN change process via a dedicated PLM toolset (Solidworks Manage)
Continuous improvement of the change management process
Ability to run the Change Control Board if required
Generation and management of customer approvals and notifications of change
Ensuring quality of design documentation and providing guidance to design engineers
Governance and control of PDM/PLM systems
Maintenance and development of PDM/PLM systems
Document and drawing reviews and approvals
Outline of Competencies:
Engineering background, preferably in the aerospace industry
Ability to read and understand technical drawings/documents
Deep understanding of industry best practices in change management
Experience in the adoption of PDM, PLM, and CM tools
Experience in data control in both design and manufacturing environments
Excellent communication skills and ability to work across functions and businesses
Qualifications and Experience Required:
Experience working on multiple projects in an aerospace product design environment
Bachelor's Degree in an applicable science or engineering discipline, or an equivalent level of experience
Knowledge and experience with CAD tools and drawing standards
Minimum of five years working in an aerospace/defense environment within an Engineering function
Experience with PDM/PLM & CM Tools (Preferably Solidworks Manage)
Key Measures:
Ensuring processes are followed and adhered to meet regulatory requirements
Maintaining accurate and up-to-date databases with clear data
Ensuring change requests, documents, and drawings are approved by the appropriately identified individuals
Storing data within the correct tool for easy accessibility
Completing drawings and document metadata in accordance with established processes
