Are you an experienced Technical Writer looking for an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and make an impact on the success of our products? Our client, a leading organisation in the Retail industry, is seeking a talented Technical Author to produce high-quality documentation that enhances the accessibility and usability of their products. This is a temporary position with a contract length of 6 months, offering you the chance to be part of a collaborative and innovative team.

Role: Technical Author

Duration: 6 Months

Location: Welwyn Garden City (3 Days in Office)

Rate: £650 per day (umbrella)

As a Technical Author at our client's organisation, you will play a pivotal role in translating complex technical information into clear and user-friendly documents. Your primary responsibility will be to collaborate closely with developers, engineers, product managers, and usability designers to ensure that the products are more accessible to our client's developers. Your contributions will directly impact the efficiency and effectiveness of their development teams, enabling them to understand and utilise the products to their maximum potential.

Responsibilities:

Work with internal teams to gain an in-depth understanding of the product and documentation requirements.
Produce high-quality documentation that meets industry standards and is suitable for its intended audience.
Write easy-to-understand user interface text, online help, and developer guides.
Create tutorials to assist end-users in utilising a variety of applications.
Analyse existing and potential content, focusing on opportunities for reuse and single sourcing.
Create and maintain the information architecture.

Requirements and Skills:

Proven working experience in technical writing of software documentation.
Ability to deliver high-quality documentation with attention to detail.
Experience in training people using the documents you have created.
Ability to quickly grasp complex technical concepts and communicate them effectively through text and visuals.
Excellent written skills in English.
Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office.
Basic familiarity with the software development lifecycle.
A university degree in computer science or engineering, or equivalent, is preferred.
