Working Hours: 36 hours per week (Mon-Fri, with flexibility)

Job Purpose:

As a Personal Advisor, you will support young adults (18-25) transitioning out of care, helping them develop skills for independent living. You will work with care leavers on issues such as housing, education, employment, mental health, and welfare, ensuring they have access to the necessary services. The role requires flexibility and occasional travel across the UK.

Key Responsibilities:

- Build relationships with care leavers and support them in their transition to independence.

- Create and review pathway plans, setting short- and long-term goals with young people.

- Offer guidance on housing, benefits, education, and health services.

- Attend key appointments with young people (e.g., court, college, health).

- Maintain accurate records and track progress through pathway plans.

- Work with young people who may live outside Southwark or attend university in other parts of the UK.

Skills and Experience:

- Experience working with adolescents, particularly care leavers.

- Understanding of the challenges care leavers face (e.g., mental health, domestic abuse, substance misuse).

- Knowledge of housing, benefits, and welfare systems.

- Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

- Good IT skills and ability to write concise reports and pathway plans.

Requirements:

- Up-to-date DBS check (or on the update service).

- Ability to start within two weeks
